The guest lecture was a great learning experience for me, as well as many of you who stuck around to ask last minute questions, expressed desire to visit the facility, and expressed amazement at the difference a few ‘geeks’ and some rich individuals could make in the lives of so many.

A very important thought you should remember as a developer, MIS specialist, product developer or business analyst - if you are designing a system, and want to be absolutely sure you have covered every nook and corner, then ‘design’ a system where the complete work-flow and reporting is in a paperless environment. This will help you avoid missing fields and functionality.

Application of Electronic Commerce and automated in Health Care will be the subject of our first guest lecture for this semester.

Mr. Shakeel Akhter is the Manager MIS  (CIO to make it sound more glamourous) of Indus Hospital, located in Karachi. Indus Hospital is 100% charity based. They have the distinction to be Pakistan’s first completely paperless hospital, a topic which was cover for the CIO Magazine few months back.
