The guest lecture was a great learning experience for me, as well as many of you who stuck around to ask last minute questions, expressed desire to visit the facility, and expressed amazement at the difference a few ‘geeks’ and some rich individuals could make in the lives of so many.

A very important thought you should remember as a developer, MIS specialist, product developer or business analyst - if you are designing a system, and want to be absolutely sure you have covered every nook and corner, then ‘design’ a system where the complete work-flow and reporting is in a paperless environment. This will help you avoid missing fields and functionality.

A copy of the presentation (of the system) is available from here and also from lectures page.

Some information about the hospital was also here in an earlier post

Some pictures from the lectures are included below (they are also on my facebook account)

Update: Guest Lecture will be next week due to scheduling issues. The Lecture 13 is now posted under lectures and will continue the discussion on RFID

On Thursday, if all goes well, we will be hearing about the experience of IT team of Indus Hospital into converting Indus Hospital into a paperless envrionment; the first (and only?) to do so in Pakistan.

I will try best to ensure the discussion ends at 10am as I’ve been informed about your ‘field trip’ to a dairy facility.

Please read the literature I posted earlier on this post: http://www.pkeducation.com/iba/spring-2009/e-commerce/2009/02/04/shakeel-akhter-indus-hospital/
